Moilapota is adjacent to Jessore-Narail highway. Hundreds of passengers are passing on this highway through various vehicles. They have to face this odd situation everyday. Financed by UNDP, Prism Bangladesh Project is working to bin garbage after collecting from every dustbin of Jessore city. It worked well in the very beginning but it did not work well later due to lack of poor management system. Garbage are collected from nearly 50 hospitals of Jessore city including Jessore General Hospital, Garib Shah Hospital, Daratana Hospital, Ekota Hospital, Fatema Hospital, Queens Hospital, Hasina Clinic, Ad-din General hospital, Rotary Health Centre, PKS, Doctors View, Shishu Hosptal, Uttara Clinic and Janata Hospital. These garbage include needles, operation blades, unused medicine, bloody human body parts and what not. During rainy season, prism cover van can not reach upto plant and garbage are thrown here and there.
A woman was seen to search plastic waste, bottles and syringe during a spot visit. While she was asked, she said, to meet hungry I do this. I sell these in the market for some taka.
If these were burnt or buried, then environment would save from these garbage and school goers and general passers-bye would free from these regular agony.
Local guard Forhad Hossain said, covered van of Prism Bangladesh worked rightly for some days but now they are throwing dusts here and there again.
