Call to Lift Duty on Diesel, Furnace Oil

Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) has urged the government to lift duty on diesel and furnace oil in a bid keep industrial growth active. BCI leaders made the call at a meeting in the capital on Saturday. They made six recommendations for the government with emphasis on reducing fuel price. In his speech, BCI President Shahedul Islam Helal alleged that “Existing industries are suffering greatly from power shortage as the government has stopped giving new gas and electricity connections”.

Bangladesh to Import Petroleum Products from China

Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation, the state-owned petroleum product marketing company, has taken a move to import two lakh metric tonnes of fuels from China for the first time to meet the local demand, officials said. The initiative was taken after Petro China International Ltd, a state-owned Chinese company, agreed to supply fuels including diesel and kerosene. A source in Chittagong said the fuels would be imported during the period from September to December this year.

77-km Submarine Pipelines to Supply Oil from Tankers to Refinery Depots

Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC)-run Eastern Refinery Limited (ERL) will install 77-kilometer long submarine pipelines for straight supply of imported crude oils from the Bay to the refinery depots in Chittagong . ERL, a sister concern of BPC, has already launched preliminary work. It has taken up a TK 952 crore submarine pipeline installation project to ease the delivery intricacy and procrastination in shifting of fuel oil from mother tankers in the deep sea.

Bangladesh Delegates to Visit Singapore, Malaysia for Fuel purchase

A four-member delegation of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) leaves Dhaka for Singapore and Malaysia tomorrow (Tuesday) to procure petroleum products to meet the increase demand of fuel in the country. According to the BPC, it needed to raise its import by more than 40 per cent as the government plans to generate 1350 MW of electricity
