» ConocoPhillips Wants All Eight Offshore Blocks Instead of the Two Offered

Conoco

I would agree with Conoco. Conoco is one of the most experienced company in the world and giving them will not only make Bangladesh resourceful by gaining more gas and Oil but also strategically we can rope in USA with its big might in case we are at war with Myanmar and India for Oil and Gas. The high ups in the government should think that very closely. Both India and Myanmar are strengthening their Naval armada and we have a small force to even protect our own maritime resources.

If they are the best evaluated bidder and qualify for 8 blocks why not give them all? If we sign for two and tebid agin it will take another two years to take decision. Chevron is holding four blocks in Bangladesh now and supplying about 40 % of total gas. If we could mange PSCs well there was no problem. But submissive attitude of a section of energy sector officials takes IOCs to driving seat. If PSCs are manged properly no worries. We find nothing wrong in Conocco Phillips asking all 8 blocks. Unless policy makers have other palns with other IOCs they must not hesitate and without making water muddy take initiative to sign PSC for all 8 blocks and act positively to resolve maritime boundary disputes .
