State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today sought Taka 30,736.65 crore budget allocation for fiscal 2020-’21 to ensure uninterrupted supply of power and energy in the country.
“An allocation of Taka 30,736.65 crore has been sought from the Ministry of Finance giving emphasis on the transmission and distribution systems,” he said while exchanging views on ‘Budget and Context’ through video conferencing from his secretariat office.
He said a total of Taka 27,597.37 crore was sought for the Power Division while Taka 3,138.65 crore for the Energy and Mineral Resources Division in the budget for 2020-2021 under the Annual Development Programme (ADP).
The state minister said the government is committed to ensure uninterrupted power and energy supply in the country.
In view of the global pandemic coronavirus and its impact, the ministry has undertaken various steps, he added.
The state minister said electricity will be supplied to every house of the country within the Mujib Barsha (Mujib Year).
Referring to the emphasis on gas transmission and oil supply, he said projects were taken to ensure energy security in the country.
“In the upcoming budget, we are trying to put the power distribution, transmission and gas transmission and production in upper head,” said Nasrul Hamid.
