BD, China Sign Mou For 500MW Renewable

State-run North-West Power Generation Company Ltd today inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Chinese CMC to develop 500 megawatt (MW) renewable energy-based power plant projects.

The plants to be developed included Sirajganj 100 MW grid connected photovoltaic solar power plant, Pabna 60 MW grid connected photovoltaic solar power plant, Payra 50 MW wind power plant and other projects to generate 290 MW.

The NWPGCL and the CMC will have 50-50 equity in the proposed joint venture.

Prime Minister’s adviser on energy issues Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury was the chief guest, while state minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid was as the special guest at the function held at Intercontinental Hotel in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Chowdhury urged both the companies for proper utilization of the country’s land while implementing the plants.

NWPGCL managing director Md Khurshedul Alam and CMC chairman Ruan Guang inked the MOU.

Power secretary Ahmad Kaiksus and Bangladesh Power Development Board chairman Khaled Mahmood also spoke.
