Secretary, Power Division, Dr. Sultan Ahmed said that Rampal Power Plant has been implementing various social development activities. As a part of its community development programs and CSR activities, BIFPCL has conducted medical camps, distributed wheel chairs, implemented safe drinking water projects, distributed water filters in schools & colleges, provided skill development training like computer & sewing, distributed sewing machines, distributed relief amongst the poor during Covid-19 pandemic , distributed blankets in winter and so on. As a humanitarian company, BIFPCL would provide continuous support to the local community, he added.
The power secretary stated that Rampal power plant has been undertaking various social activities before it started electricity generation. It has been putting its best efforts to improve the standard of living of local people of the vicinity of the project. BIFPCL has been implementing multi-dimensional development activities in uplifting people’s economic and social condition.
Power Division Secretary Dr. Sultan Ahmed mentioned that Govt. has been working relentlessly to provide cent percent electricity throughout the country in the Mujib Year by declaring it as “Sheba Borsho” to mark the birth centennial of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In continuation to this, a huge workforce has been deployed from different parts of Bangladesh and skilled manpower from India at Rampal Power Plant to generate electricity at shortest possible time.
He said this while speaking as chief guest at a function of distribution of wheel chairs amongst the differently able people of adjacent areas at the Rampal Project premises being organized by BIFPCL here today on Friday.
Chairperson of the function Managing Director, BIFPCL, Animesh Jain stated that during Covid-19 pandemic, workers at the power plant worked in a limited scale by following health protocols but it would not impact the project much, power may be generated here at the beginning of 2022 as the work is going on in full swing at present. As directed by the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we are working to contribute to enlighten every corner of the country, he further added.
