The cost of installing the Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) of Ruppur as well as the price of electricity produced by it is relatively higher says the country’s finance minister AMA Muhit.
In a cabinet meeting presided by the Prime minister Sheikh Hasina that held at the parliament building on Monday, AMA Muhit indicated, Ruppur NPP as a very expensive project.
The finance minister said that the overall cost of this NPP is relatively higher than that of the neighbor countries including India.
The estimated cost for installing the Ruppur NPP including the survey is about 1 thousand 315 crore 50 lacs USD or 1 lac 5 thousand 200 crores Tk. According to the same estimation, it was also said that the price of each Unit of electricity will be no more than Tk 4.
In that meeting, the Science and Technology Minister Yafes Osman and the Planning minister AHMS Mustafa Kamal highlighted various aspects of the NPP project. Later, they informed the Cabinet that the cost will be no more than that of the neighboring countries.
Yafes Osman informed the cabinet about the tour from 16th May to 20th May, of a delegation team led by him to Russia to sign a draft agreement on the ‘State Export Credit’.
