Today Rooppur NPP Contract Will Sign

Final contract on Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) will be signed today (25th December 2015). Contract includes blueprint of the plant, equipment supply and transportation power generation, fuel supply etc.
Showkot Osman, managing director of Nuclear Power Plant Company (Bangladesh), informs, contract will be signed between Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and Russian company Atomstroyexport. The contract will be signed in Pan Pacific Sonargaon at Dhaka. Finance minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit will be present on the program.
Earlier, in 15th December, a draft was signed between Bangladesh and Russia and on Wednesday it was approved in a cabinet committee meeting.

As per contract Russian company will build 2 units, each 1200MW, total capacity 2400MW. The plant will cost 12 billion 65 million dollar which is 1200cr in local currency (tk 80 per dollar). Russia will provide 90 percent ($11 billion 385 million) of the cost as loan. Loan contract may sign in March or April. Bangladesh will get 28 year to repay the loan. interest will be fixed by adding 0.75 with Laibor but it will not be more than 4 per cent. Life time of the plant is 50 year. First unit may come in action in 2021.

Russia will provide fuel for the plant and will take radioactive west. Equipment of the plant will be brought by river. ‘Bangladesh Nuclear Power Company’ will conduct the plant.
