West Bengal will be in a position to sell 2500 units of power to Bangladesh in 2014, the state power minister Manish Gupta recently said.
“We are presently selling our surplus power to states like Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha and Rajasthan. From next year, we will sell around 2,500 units of power to Bangladesh,” Gupta told after a departmental review meeting at the Bakreshwar Thermal Power Plant (BTPP).
The state government has already received permission to start construction work of the sixth unit of BTPP from the Centre and after completion of the unit, it would produce 500 MW of power, Gupta said.
“We have a plan to electrify all households in the state by the end of 2014,” he said.
