Omera To Set Up LPG Plant At Mirersorai

Omera Petroleum is about to set up a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Import Terminal and Reforming Process Unit at Mirersorai of Chittagong. Hence, the Omera authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) on Monday.

The MoU signing ceremony took place at the BEZA conference room in city’s Karwan Bazaar area. BEZA Executive Board Secretary Md Ayub and Omera CEO Tipu Sultan signed the MoU on behalf their respective organizations.

According to the MoU, Omera will lease 200 acres of land to set up an LPG Import Terminal and Reforming Process Unit. Omera Officials sources confirmed that, the company is willing to invest 1,300 crore BDT to materialize this project.

Omera Petroleum started its journey in the petroleum market with their LPG cylinder gas since the last April of 2015. This year they are planning to setup an LPG import terminal and reforming process unit at the country’s one of the newest planned Economic zone at Mirersarai. Sources informed that this project will create around 5,000 employment opportunities.

BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury, who was present during the signing as the chief guest, said the total area of the economic zone of Mirsari would be 30,000 acres and the zone would have modern facilities. He said the deal had been signed as part of the government’s initiative to build industries in Mirsarai in a planned way involving both local and foreign companies.

Among others, Executive Member of BEZA Mohammad Abdus Samad and Hariprasad Paul, General Manager of BEZA Mostak Hasan, Managing Director of Omera Asif Malik and Masudur Rahman were present at the MoU signing ceremony.
