Engineers Send Abroad For Training

Power and energy ministry is making a engineers list to send them abroad for training to face distributions and maintenance challenge. This was disclosed in a Seminar titled ‘The power development trend in Bangladesh, Difficulties and prospects’ organized by Electrical Engineering Division (EED) at seminar hall of Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).

State minister, ministry of power, energy and mineral resource Nasrul Hamid was the chief guest on the seminar. Precedent of IEB Engr. Md. Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan was chief guest while chairman of Electrical Engineering Division, IEB Engr. Md. Hamidul Hoque chaired the seminar.

At present per head power consumption rate is 300 watt which is like the consumption of low income country. If we want to achieve the vision 2021, to be a middle income country, the consumption rate should increase to 600 watt. Government want to increase the distribution and maintenance capacity.

In the seminar a keynote was presented by Muhammed Fazlur Rahman professor and head of Energy System at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.

In the keynote Mr. Rahman showed a development sketch in power sector of Vietnam, Malaysia and India.

State minister said Government is going to generate huge amount of electricity. So we need to increase our customers. There are commercial industrial and domestic customers. We want to provide uninterested electricity to them so we need to distribute the power in a planed way.To do this we need expertise on this sector.
